Partners and Events

As part of the special project "AQ-idea" for cultural and social initiatives by the "AQ-i" Center, an event titled "Contemporary Kazakh Literature: What Are Writers in Kazakhstan Writing About and How to Become One?" was held in collaboration with the creative platform TAN Art Residency and the Union of Writers of Kazakhstan (USW).
The conference took place on May 31, 2025, a date chosen deliberately to coincide with the Day of Political Repressions and Famine in Kazakhstan. This symbolic timing honored the memory of the Kazakh intelligentsia who suffered during the repressions—those who, even then, emphasized the importance of education, enlightenment, creativity, and literature in society.
The event was hosted at the Presidential Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Among the invited speakers were not only writers, but also leaders of Astana’s book clubs. The conference concluded with a creative writing workshop, open to all interested participants.
More than 100 attendees devoted their Saturday to the event, engaging actively with speakers, asking numerous questions, and participating enthusiastically in the workshop. The high level of feedback and involvement reflected the strong interest in Kazakh literature and the culture of reading in the capital city.
